Dot Dot Dot Review
Hey guys, just wanted to share my little review on my first time seeing this local Chicago band called Dot Dot Dot. My friend Nancy had kept asking me to go out with her along with my other ex co-worker to go see this band and was never able to go. She really kept bugging me all week up until the day of their show which was at The Harrah's Casino in Joliet. After the last text Friday morning, I decided to text her back saying I'll go, I'll go, I'll go! (always love referencing to Ferris Bueller)
I end up meeting her there cause I'm just a fashionably late kind of gal. The place was not crowded and I must say it had a kind of eccentric kind of crowd. Then again, it is a casino. Dot Dot Dot consists of Adam Blair-vocals,Rose-guitar,Little Lisa -Bass, Michael-keyboards, Marty-drums. Now, mind you, earlier that day, I wanted to look them up to see what they were all about. Little did I know or remember that they were finalists Fox's TV's The Next Great American Band in 2007. Since then, not only have they traveled locally here in their hometown of Chicago, but also has traveled the states. They have also been lucky enough to have penned songs on national campaign ads including Party City, The Florida Gators, The Kentucky Derby, Jeep and Jaime Oliver's Food Revolution.
I really enjoyed the show and as they do play cover tunes. One thing I noticed that I really don't see in many bands if any, is that each member got a chance to entertain the crowd by singing one or a couple of songs. Little Lisa does a great rendition of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" and Fergie's "Fergalicious" . Rose added her funk to Paper Planes, Michael with Rem's "It's The End Of The World", and Marty's very entertaining version of Ricky Martin's "Livin The Vida Loca". Loved his growl of seduction. My favorite cover of the night was when they did "Video Killed The Radio Star". Sounded so authentic with Michael on the keyboards and the girls doing their part just like the song. I loved it! Oh, I almost forgot, Adam really does a mean Neil Diamond as they closed out their show with "Sweet Caroline"
As for their originals, I really, really, enjoyed them. It was very easy to get into "Smile", "Around the World (And Back)" and "Good Bye Love". There was 5 girls in the front that knew all their songs back to back and even doing their own little dance to one of them. It was great to see! I introduced myself to Adam and Little Lisa and they are very nice, and down to earth. I'm sure the other 3 are the same way and look forward to get to know each and every one of them.
It was their first show of 2013 and they really rocked and had people dancing, cheering and enjoying every song. I was surely not disappointed! I definitely would love to catch their show with all originals at The Double Door , March 22nd.
